Janice Irene Pender Rogers, 74, died Friday at her residence.
Born in Wilson County, she was the daughter of the late Rudolph Pender and Pauline Outland Scott and sister of the late Phillip Pender and Shirley Horton.
Janice was a member of Belfast Pentecostal Holiness Church, where she served in the choir, the women's ministry and the children's Sunday school.
A longtime member of the Arrington Volunteer Fire Department and Ladies Auxiliary, Janice served as the fire department's treasurer, secretary, public relations officer and chaplain. She was secretary and treasurer for the ladies' auxiliary.
A service to celebrate Janice's life will be held Monday evening at 7 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home, with pastor Harry Smith officiating.
Family members will greet friends Monday immediately following the service at the funeral home and at other times, will be at the home of her son, Tim Rogers, 731 Emmaus Church Road, Dudley, N.C., 28333.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Wayne Memorial Park.
Janice is survived by her children and their spouses, Sharon and Oscar Pendergraft, Timothy Rogers, Randy and Norma Rogers and Kathy and Richard Carmack; two brothers, Rudolph Pender and Joe Scott; one sister, Paulette Lefczuk; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
