Emily Jean Brown, 95, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 26, 2016, at SECU Hospice House in Smithfield.
Emily was born in Wayne County on Aug. 23, 1921, to the late Emmett and Mary Lamison Brown.
She had worked as a secretary with the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia. Emily was a member of First Baptist Church.
A service celebrating Emily's life will be held by the graveside at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2016, in Willow Dale Cemetery with Chaplain Alan Strickland officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the cemetery.
Emily is survived by two nieces, Jeanne Sasser and husband, Henry, of Goldsboro, and Pat Toler and husband, J.B., of Goldsboro; and several nieces and nephews as well as several great nieces and nephews that she loved very much. She is also survived by a special niece and caregiver, Katrina Jones.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Ruth Brown Brogden and Mary Elizabeth Brown.
Although flowers are welcome, memorials may be made to the SECU Hospice House, 426 Hospital Road, Smithfield, N.C., 27577.
