ERNIE PYLE ROUSE

Ernie Pyle Rouse, 71, Albertson, N.C., went home to be with Jesus Tuesday, April 5, 2016, surrounded by his family. He was born Dec. 22, 1944, in Kinston to the late Forrest and Dorothy Brock Rouse.
Ernie graduated from Moss Hill High School, and attended Lenoir Community College.
He was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving from 1965 to 1967, a member of Albertson Ruritan Club and American Legion Post 379, founding owner of R-Mart in Albertson and R-Mart Hardware in Pink Hill, a successful farmer and an avid fisherman and Tar Heel fan.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Linda Jones Rouse; daughters, Vidette Rouse of Raleigh and Penny Harper and husband, Freddie, of Albertson; grandchildren, Jordan Brock Harper and Reagan Nicole Harper of Albertson; a special member of the family, Toni Harper of Seven Springs; brothers, Willie Rouse and Weldon Rouse both of Albertson, Forrest Rouse Jr., Bob Rouse and Spot Rouse and wife, Shelia, all of Seven Springs and David Rouse and wife, Amy, of Winterville; sisters, Carrie Howard of LaGrange, Edna Smith and husband, Bobby, of Seven Springs and Ellie Latimer and husband, Spike, of Elizabethtown, Ky.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Marvin Rouse.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 7, 2016, at Pink Hill Funeral Home.
A celebration of Ernie’s life will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 8, 2016, at Albertson Missionary Baptist Church, with burial following at Westview Cemetery in Kinston.
The family will receive friends at other times at his home.
In lieu of flowers, Ernie requested memorials be made to Albertson Missionary Baptist Church Building Fund for the new sanctuary, and can be mailed to P.O. Box 37, Albertson, N.C., 28508.
