Kent was born May 22, 1933, in Mount Gilead, N.C.

He attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he graduated in 1955 with a bachelor's degree in business administration.

After graduating, he worked initially for the North Carolina Department of Revenue in Raleigh, then worked for more than 30 years for General Motors (GMAC), and retired two decades ago.

He had held various positions since that time, including most recently at Walmart in Goldsboro.

He will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends.

For those who wish to pay their respects, the family will receive guests at First Presbyterian Church in Goldsboro Sunday, April 3, at 1 p.m., followed by a memorial service in the chapel at 2 p.m.

A private interment will be held at a later date.
