REV. ALONZO D. BUTLER JR.
The Rev. Alonzo David Butler Jr., 89, of 203 Highwoods Drive, Goldsboro, departed this earthly existence, Dec. 18, 2015. He left many cherished moments in the lives that he touched, both as a pastor and owner of his taxi service.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday, Dec. 23, at 11 a.m. at St. James AME Zion Church, 206 S. George St., Goldsboro. Pastor Ronald Miller will deliver the eulogy. Interment will follow at Old Mill Cemetery, Central Heights Road. The wake will be held one hour prior to the funeral service.
Rev. Butler is survived by his daughter, Faye (Rev. Dr. Marshall) Smith of the home; one grandson; two great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; four sisters; and many nieces, nephews and friends. A personal "heartfelt thanks" goes to his caretakers, Mrs. Shanita Walker and Ms. Deborah Dorsett for all the loving care given to him during his illness.
