Died Nov. 7, 2015

Wayne County Planning Director Connie Ray Price, 60, of Fremont, departed this walk of life Saturday, Nov. 7, 2015, at Wayne Memorial Hospital surrounded by his family.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2015, at 10 a.m. at Fremont United Methodist Church with visitation to follow in the church fellowship hall.

Burial will then follow with masonic rites at Wayne Memorial Park in Dudley.

Connie was born in Goldsboro, N.C.

He graduated from Charles B. Aycock High School, then from East Carolina University with an undergraduate degree in urban and regional planning.

He then obtained his master's in public administration.

He recently retired after 25 years as planning director for Wayne County.

He is survived by his wife, Amy; two daughters, Anna (Tyler) McGee of Fremont and Katy of the home; one brother, Dr. Jerry (Dawn) Price of Smith Mountain Lake, Va.; his in-laws, George (Louise) Vann of Conway, N.C., Shelby (Bud) Bullock of Greenville, N.C., Cynthia (John) Springer of Ansonsville, N.C., Georgette Vann of Greenville, N.C., G.T. (Angie) Vann of Hattiesburg, Miss.; one uncle, Robert (Lois) Parks of Hood Swamp, N.C.; and multiple nieces, nephews and cousins.

A special thanks to a wonderful caregiver, Brenda Griffin.

He was a lifelong member of Fremont United Methodist Church where he served on multiple committees.

He served on the Fremont Town Board and was a lifetime member of Fremont Rescue Squad, holding multiple offices and a past member of the Fremont Fire Department, where he was Firefighter of the Year in 1980.

Mr. Price was active in the Jaycees, serving as district and regional district director and was elected Vice-President N.C. Jaycees.

He was a member of the Masonic Home Lodge 613 and presently serving as Worshipful Master Home Lodge 613. He was a York Rite Mason and Eagle Scout ranked and Vigil recipient Order of Arrow through Troop 12 Fremont, N.C.

Connie was an avid ECU Pirate fan.

The family request to honor Connie with Pirate colors, purple and gold, at the services.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to parsonage fund at Fremont United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 147 Fremont, N.C., 27830.

The family is in the care of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro.
