EYSSEL H. FRANKLIN

Ms. Eyssel Hines Franklin, 65, passed away early Wednesday morning, Oct. 21, at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Raised in Mount Olive, she was the daughter of the late William Harold "Bennie" Franklin and Eyssel Hines Franklin.
There were many facets to her life's work, from her being a school teacher in special education to that of a real estate agent and broker, operating an outlet shop and an interior designer, to being a patient advocate for those with chronic pain, traveling cross-country to get their voices heard.
She enjoyed dance, and was a member of the North Carolina Shagger's Hall of Fame.
Eyssel is survived by a son, Franklin Grey Gurganus of Garner; a sister, Leigh Ann Franklin of Goldsboro; and a nephew, Brian Hill, his wife, Gina, and their son, Christopher, all of Goldsboro.
A brother, William Harold "Bill" Franklin Jr., preceded her in death.
Her life will be remembered in a graveside service to be held Saturday, Oct. 24, at 11 a.m. in Mount Olive's Maplewood Cemetery, officiated by the Rev. Paul Rose.
The Franklin family will receive friends at Tyndall Funeral Home in Mount Olive Friday night, Oct. 23, from 7 to 9 p.m.
