Morris "Tom" Killette, 78, LaGrange, peacefully passed away Friday, Oct. 16, 2015, at his home with his family by his side.

Tom was born March 1, 1937, in Wayne County to the late Gilbert Killette and Hepsie Parks Killette.

Tom proudly served his country in the United States Army.

A lifelong farmer, Tom loved the country life and being outdoors on the farm.

Tom was most happy when out fishing, and nothing was more pleasing than the tug of a fish on the line, no matter the size.

He enjoyed listening to his beagles run, playing music with his family at the barn and singing in the choir.

Tom was a member of Free Gospel Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church.

Tom enjoyed being around people, loved good conversation and displayed a keen sense of humor. Tom's family fondly recalls him never being without his handkerchief, a Werther's Original and his Old Timer pocketknife.

A service to celebrate and honor Tom's life will be held Monday, Oct. 19, 2015, at 2 p.m. at Rouse Funeral Home, with pastor Danny Ham officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery.

Tom cherished his family, and is lovingly survived by his wife of 17 years, Kathy Killette; three children, Libby Shambeau, Christie Killette Taylor and husband, Wayne, and Jonathan Morris Killette and his fiancee, Nicole Poehlman; two grandchildren, Ashton and Aaron Shambeau; two great-grandchildren, Liam and Luke; two stepchildren, Tony Greene and wife, Sharon, and Angie Greene; two stepgrandchildren, Katie and Alex Greene; brother, Robie Killette and wife, Sybil; mother-in-law, Marie Carter; and sisters-in-law, Shirley Killette, Brenda Killette and Daisy Killette.

In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by six siblings, Mary Rachel Smith, Elizabeth Phipps, Reece Killette, Wayne Killette, Ray Killette and James Earlon Killette.

Tom's family will receive friends Monday from 1 to 2 p.m. at Rouse Funeral Home and at other times, the family will be at the home.
