Danselene Joyner "Dansy" Uzzell, 86, Elroy community of Goldsboro, peacefully passed Monday, Oct. 5, 2015, at her home.
Dansy was born Nov. 23, 1928, in Grantham to the late Randolph Joyner and Myrtie Daniels Joyner. She was wife of the late Elisha Uzzell.
Dansy worked 34 years as a nurse's assistant with Guardian Care Nursing Home. She took great pride in her work as a caregiver.
She is remembered for her pleasant expression and warm smile to all she came in contact with.
Dansy loved gardening and tending to her yard. She enjoyed her daily phone conversations with friends, and loved food and fellowship at Bojangles.
She attended Casey Chapel Free Will Baptist Church for many years.
A service to celebrate and honor the life of Dansy will be held Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2015, at 7 p.m. at Rouse Funeral Home. Interment will be Thursday at 11 a.m. from the Uzzell Family Cemetery.
A loving mother, Dansy is survived by her daughter, Gale Uzzell Rose and husband, Tim, of Goldsboro; son, Gary Uzzell of Kinston; sister, Mary Hill of Hillsborough; sister-in-law, Ruth B. Uzzell of Goldsboro; along with a number of nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received Wednesday following the service.
