GARY H. JONES

Gary Harold Jones, 63, New Bern, N.C., passed away Sunday night, Aug. 2, 2015, in Kinston after a brief battle with cancer. He was born in Goldsboro Nov. 19, 1951.
Gary, a well-known Nationwide Insurance agent, established a successful business in the New Bern area.
He will always be known for his jovial laugh and bigger-than-life personality. He will be remembered for his generosity to all.
Being a North Carolina State graduate, he was an avid state fan, attending many games.
Gary was a longtime supporter and member of New Bern Jaycees, where he served as president, receiving numerous awards including Triple Crown, (membership in the North Carolina Cardinal Corps, serving as a U.S. Jaycee Ambassador and JCI Senator.) He also held positions at the national level.
He enjoyed traveling, his friends and family and children.
He expressed a dedication of his faith in God and recently stated "this is in the Lord's hands."
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Dorothy Outlaw Jones; a sister, Elaine; and his stepmother, Jessie Waller Jones.
He is survived by a stepbrother, Joe Dan Waller, and a stepsister, Donna Fulghum both of Mount Olive.
He is also survived by his aunts and uncles, Faye Harrell of Goldsboro, Clarence Jones of Goldsboro, Oscar and Lamai Jones of Cary, James and Kathy Jones of Goldsboro and Louise Outlaw of Morehead City, and numerous first cousins, who will miss hearing that laugh.
Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 6, at Tyndall Funeral Home in Mount Olive. Pastor Stephanie Foretich will officiate, with visitation following.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 7, at Wayne Memorial Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or the Boys and Girls home at Lake Waccamaw.
