ANN STEPHENS MORRIS

Ann Stephens Morris, 72, Greenville, passed away early Friday morning, May 1, 2015.
She was a native of Rones Chapel community near Mount Olive, the daughter of the late James Clyde and Dollie Mae Whitfield Stephens, and she was their only child.
A graduate of Mount Olive High School, she furthered her education at East Carolina University, obtaining both her bachelor and master degrees.
Her career in library science began at Arthur Edwards Elementary School in Havelock, followed by Joyner Library on the campus of East Carolina University.
For this media specialist, her career in public service ended at West Craven High School at Vanceboro with her retirement.
Having grown up next door to Rones Chapel Methodist Church, it was there that she was a childhood member, but in her adult years, after relocating to Greenville, she worshipped with, and became a member of, Hooker Memorial Christian Church.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, May 3, at 4:30 p.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home in Mount Olive, with committal to immediately follow in Maplewood Cemetery in Mount Olive, where her remains will be interred beside of her beloved mother and father.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home before the service, beginning at 3 p.m.

Mrs. Morris is survived by her husband, Monnie Morris of the home; a daughter, Wendy Riggs and husband, Eddie, of New Bern; a son, Cecil Kelly Morris of Greenville; three granddaughters, Caroline McCoy and husband, Chris, and Katie Wood and husband, Tyler, all of Cove City and Rachel Riggs of New Bern; three great-granddaughters, Madison Wood, Jenni Wood and Alyssa Grace McCoy all of Cove City; her mother-in-law, Grace Morris of Kinston; and two brothers-in-law, Mike Morris of Morehead City and Tim Morris of Greenville.
