STEVEN E. DELUCA

Steven Eric DeLuca, 56, Faison, passed away Sunday afternoon, March 1, 2015, at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville following a short battle with lung cancer.

Born Oct. 6, 1958, to Milton and Louise Hatch DeLuca in Fort Walton Beach, Fla., he graduated from James Kenan High School at Warsaw.

He then served several years in the United States Air Force.

Other professions included the food and beverage industry, working with Sonic, Piggly Wiggly in Faison and Mount Olive as deli-bakery manager and Charlie's Grill in Warsaw.

Then came employment in pest control, and lastly, long-distance trucking, working with Smithfield Packing of Clinton, followed by WTS Express Inc. in Mount Olive prior to his becoming disabled.

He had a deep love for beach music, shagging, North Carolina State football and spending quality time with his family.

He attended Faison Presbyterian Church, and was a former member of Bowdens Presbyterian Church.

Steve is survived by his wife, Tammy Walker DeLuca; two sons, Bobby DeLuca and wife, Kim, of Japan and Christopher Wheeler of New Bern; two daughters, Paige Houston and husband, Joe, of Pink Hill and Taylor Walker of the home; a granddaughter, Amber DeLuca of Japan; his mother, Louise H. DeLuca of Faison; two sisters, Linda D. Taylor and husband, Sam, of Faison and Karen D. Archer and husband, Jerry, of Mount Pleasant, S.C.; and several nieces and nephews and their families.

He was preceded in death by father, Milton DeLuca, and an older brother, Milton Charles DeLuca.

Services to remember his life will be held Thursday, March 5, at 6 p.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home in Mount Olive, with visitation immediately following. His burial will be Friday, March 6, at 1 p.m. at Pineview Cemetery in Seven Springs.

Flowers are welcome; however, memorial gifts may be made to either Faison Presbyterian Church, 502 W. Main St., Faison, or Bowdens Presbyterian Church, c/o Linda Taylor, 597 Taylortown Road, Faison, N.C., 28341.

The family wishes to thank the staffs of Leo Jenkins Cancer Center and Vidant Medical Center in Greenville for their untiring efforts in treating Steve with love, concern and kindness during his fight.

In order to honor Steve's great love for Wolfpack football, the family requests red and white attire for those attending Steve's service.
