DR. TANYA DENISE FOSTER

Dr. Tanya Denise Foster, 44, 56 Locket Drive, Clayton, passed away Saturday morning in the University of North Carolina Hospital in Chapel Hill.
Dr. Foster was a board certified OB/GYN specializing in high-risk and low-risk pregnancy, preventive health care, gynecology, minimally invasive surgery and urogynecology.
A native of Saginaw, Mich., she was born Feb. 24, 1970, to Robert and Dorothy Epperson Foster.
She held a bachelor of science degree from Howard University and a master of science degree from the University of Maryland at Baltimore, and she attended medical school at Robert Wood Johnson in Camden, N.J. She was a proud member of the illustrious sisterhood of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
Dr. Foster joined the practice of Johnston OB/GYN Associates in January 2008 upon completion of her residency at Sinai Hospital of Baltimore in Baltimore, Md.
She was an advocate of women's health and fitness, and provided quality health education for her patients.
In her spare time, she enjoyed strength training, spending time with friends and family and international travel.
Her life and service to God and mankind will be celebrated Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Upper Room Church of God in Christ, 3300 Idlewood Village Drive, Raleigh, N.C. Burial will take place at a later date in Saginaw, Mich.
Arrangements are by Haskins Funeral Home of Goldsboro.
