Jewel Grady Head, 82, Asheville, N.C., passed away peacefully Oct. 13, 2014, surrounded by her family.
Born and raised in Grantham, N.C., the daughter of Edward and Letha Grady, she spent her adult life in Kinston working briefly for DuPont before leaving after two years to raise a family.
Anyone who knew Jewel knew that the focus of her life was her family, demonstrated by her unconditional love and support of her two children and their families.
Her unwavering belief in the power of prayer played an important part in her life.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 17, 2014, at Spilman Memorial Baptist Church, with pastor Allen Ham officiating.
The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service.
Burial will follow at Westview Cemetery following the funeral service.
She leaves her husband of 64 years, Earl; her son, Jeffrey and his wife, Nora, of Edmond, Okla.; her son, Drue and his wife, Mary, of Asheville, N.C.; nine grandchildren; and sisters, Joyce Proctor of Grantham and Myrna Tyndall of Goldsboro.
She was preceded in death by sisters, Mona Waters and Barbara Draughon.
Memorials may be made to Spilman Memorial Baptist Church at 601 Madison Ave., Kinston, N.C., 28501.
