MARIE LAWSON JERNIGAN

Marie Lawson Jernigan, 86, Goldsboro, passed away peacefully Monday, Aug. 25, 2014, at her home.
Marie was born in Guilford County May 18, 1928, to the late Thomas J. Lawson and Gladys Wilson Lawson.
For many years, Marie served as the office manager for the family business, Jernigan Furniture, in Goldsboro.
She was a member of Saint Mary Roman Catholic Church.
Marie was a generous and gracious woman. She will be remembered for the love she shared during her well-lived life.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 29, 2014, at Saint Mary Roman Catholic Church, with Father Alex Gonzalez, Father Doug Lawson and Father Patrick Keane presiding. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.
Marie is survived by her husband, Sam Jernigan Jr.; son, Sam Jernigan III and wife, Eleanore, of Goldsboro; grandchildren, Conoley Coonley and husband, Howard, of Wayne, Pa., Sarah Elizabeth Kezirian and husband, Stephen, of Washington, D.C., Samuel Jernigan IV of New York City, N.Y., and Andrew Thomas Jernigan of Goldsboro; and four great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by her sister, Dolores Harris and husband, Jack, of Castro Valley, Calif., and brothers, Father Douglas Lawson of Southport, Dr. John Lawson of Clemson, S.C., and Mark Lawson of Asheville.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Father Robert Lawson and Dr. Thomas Lawson.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be given to Saint Mary Roman Catholic Church, 1000 N. Jefferson Ave., Goldsboro, N.C., 27530.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 28, 2014, at Seymour Funeral Home.
