James Alford Lovelace, 81, died Saturday morning at the North Carolina Veterans Home in Kinston.
Born in Guilford County, he was the son of the late William Anderson and Maude Rook Lovelace, and was the husband of the late Jeanne M. Lovelace.
Graveside services with military honors will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Wayne Memorial Park, with the Rev. Al Sullivan officiating.
The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home, and at other times, at the home of Al and Dominique Sullivan, 102 Fox Court, Dudley, N.C.
James retired from the United States Air Force in 1972, and after retiring, he managed Sleepy Creek Golf Course, enjoying many friendships created there.
Survivors include his three children, Douglas Edward Lovelace and wife, Kathy, of Dudley, James Anderson Lovelace of Creedmore, N.C., and Dominique L. Sullivan and husband, Al, of Dudley; a brother, Bob Lovelace of California; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
