LUCILLE D. BYRD
April 26, 1923-April 14, 2014
MOUNT OLIVE -- Lucille Daniels Byrd, passed away Monday, April 14, while being cared for at Kitty Askins Hospice Center. She was nearing her 91st birthday.
Visitation will be Saturday, April 19, from 10 until 11 a.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home, followed by graveside services at 11:30 a.m. at Wayne Memorial Park.
One of eight children born to her late parents, Willie and Molly Thornton Daniels, she was the last survivor of that generation of her family.
A member of First Christian Church of Mount Olive, she was the widow of Leon D. Byrd.
Surviving are several nieces and nephews and their families, and Ronald and Linda Turner of Mount Olive, who were care-givers in her last years, with Ronald being like the son she never had.
A special thanks is expressed to the sixth floor staff at Wayne Hospital, the Kitty Askins staff, and Genesis Care Center staff for the compassionate care extended to Mrs. Byrd during her stays at these facilities.
