EVELYN E. CARLYLE

Evelyn Edwards Carlyle, 79, LaGrange, peacefully passed away Sunday, April 6, 2014.
Evelyn was born May 13, 1934, in Wayne County to the late Mark Smith Edwards and Nellie Langley Edwards. She was wife of the late David Samuel "Sam" Carlyle.
Evelyn was a longtime member of Beston United Methodist Church, and retired from Cherry Hospital, where she worked as a health care technician.
Evelyn graduated from New Hope High School, and was a longtime member of the Wayne County Home Extension Club. She loved traveling, sewing, shopping and pizza on Friday.
A service of remembrance will be held Tuesday, April 8, 2014, at 7 p.m. at Rouse Funeral Home, with the Rev. Sherman Guthrie officiating. Interment will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Hill Cemetery.
Evelyn is survived by four children, Debra Byrd and husband, Jerry, David Carlyle, Denise Laws and husband, Al, and Darryl Carlyle and wife, Kim; four grandchildren, Jamie Ham and wife, Heather, Jennifer Goodson and husband, Josh, Josh Laws and Jentry Carlyle; four great-grandchildren, Matthew Ham, Maura Ham, Mallory Ham and Hannah Goodson; sister, Joanne Gray and husband, Bud; two sisters-in-law, Lula Morton and Jean Edwards; and Toby Brown, whom she loved as one of her own.
In addition to her parents and husband, Evelyn was preceded in death by a sister, Lucille Tyson, and two brothers, William Earl "Squirrel" Edwards and Isaac Edwards.
The family will receive friends Tuesday following the service, and at other times, will be at her home.
