John Durwood Britt Jr. passed away Tuesday after an extended stay at Greendale Forest Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Snow Hill.
A funeral service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Howell Funeral Home and Crematory in Goldsboro. Burial will follow at Eureka Cemetery.
Visitation will be prior to the service from 1 to 1:45 p.m.
John worked as a registered nurse at Britthaven Nursing Homes, Cherry Hospital and O'Berry Center, where he was dedicated to his profession and patients.
John was an avid golfer.
He is survived by his children, Beth (Ron) Arvin and David Joseph of Tennessee; his brothers, Edgar Uriah Britt of Pikeville, Joseph L. Tapp Jr. of Pikeville and Benjamin Tapp of Raleigh; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
John was preceded in death by his father, John D. Britt Sr.; his mother, Helen Owens Tapp; and stepfather, Joseph L. Tapp Sr.
