EMMA JEAN WHITEHURST

GRIFTON -- Emma Jean Whitehurst, 76, died Friday, Feb. 7, 2014, at Vidant Medical Center.
Mrs. Whitehurst was a member of First Christian Church of Grifton, and was active in CWF.
She was also a member of Grifton Garden Club.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Whitehurst, in 1995.
Surviving are her three sons, Sammy Whitehurst and wife, Judy, of Grifton; Billy Whitehurst and wife, Sara, of Graham, N.C., and Clifton Whitehurst and wife, Donna, of Goldsboro, N.C.; two sisters, Betsy Gurganus of Williamston and Dr. Frankie Gurganus of High Point; six grandchildren, Amanda Lennon and husband, Matt, Christopher Whitehurst and wife, Juliet, Andrew Whitehurst, Erin Whitehurst, Ashley Whitehurst and Madison Whitehurst; and a great-grandchild, Bryson Whitehurst.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Feb. 10, 2014, at 3 p.m. at Farmer Funeral chapel, Ayden. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Estates, Grifton.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Monday at the funeral home., and at other times, at the home, 5184 Woodside Drive, Grifton, N.C.
Flowers are welcome, but donations are preferred to be made to First Christian Church, P.O. Box 25, Grifton, N.C., 28530.
