Jessie Jones Waters, 82, left her earthly home to go to her eternal home in heaven Sunday morning at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by her loving family.
A homegoing service will be held Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2013, at 7 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with the Rev. David Pate, the Rev. Rose Hicks and the Rev. Thomas McLendon

The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Burial will be Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2013, at 2 p.m. in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at other times in her home.
She was the daughter of the late Joe and Effie Tyner Jones.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Hudson Waters; daughter-in-law, Patricia Waters; and her sisters, Dorothy King, Lois Worley and Essie Mae Anderson.
She is survived by her daughter, Jessie Diane Waters Merritt and husband, Howard Merritt; her son, Jerry Warren Waters and special friend, Gail Phillips; her grandchildren, Jennifer Merritt Weeks (Frankie), Howard Merritt Jr. (Michelle), Chris Merritt (Amanda), Renee Blackman (David) and Jeff Waters (Doreen); her great-grandchildren, Ivy Weeks, Anna Weeks, Logan Merritt, Landon Merritt, Kayley Merritt, Jordan Blackman, Brianna Waters and Braxson Waters; her sister, Sara Jones Pierce; special friends, Tracy and Elsie Wicker; and several nieces and nephews.
Jessie was a devout Christian and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her unconditional love and devotion to her family and friends will surely be missed. She was always willing to lend a helping hand, and put others' needs before her own.
Jessie enjoyed being a housewife and working on the family farm. While able, she loved baking, her garden and visiting the sick and shut-in friends.
She worked part-time at JCPenney, Piggly Wiggly and Futrelle Funeral Home.
She was a devoted lifetime member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school for many years, and was a member of the auxiliary.
Due to declining health, she was unable to do all the things she loved.
The family would like to express its appreciation for the compassionate care provided by Kitty Askins Hospice Center. Love and heartfelt thanks are expressed to her caregiver, Tina Bizzell, at Willow Creek Nursing Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Ebenezer United Methodist Church, 3859 U.S. 70 West, Goldsboro, N.C. 27530, or Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 107 Handley Park Court, Goldsboro, N.C., 27534.
