Retired Staff Sgt. Robert Angus Ray III, 44, died Friday at Madison Hospital in Madison, Ala.
He was born in Pitt County to Robert A. Ray Jr. and Glenda Price Davis, and was married to Jocelyn P. Ray.
A 1987 graduate of Southern Wayne High School, he was retired from the United States Army 417 Cavalry Unit after 21 years of service.
He was currently working as a senior analyst with Avion Solutions, and was a member of the American Legion Post 11.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home and Crematory of Goldsboro, with pastor Doug Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Pineview Cemetery.
The family will receive friends immediately following the graveside service at Pineview Cemetery.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four daughters and son-in-law, Laken and Allen Baugus, Ashley Ray, Nicole Ray and Makenzie Ray; a grandson, Braden James Baugus; a brother, Sergeant First Class Daniel N. Ray; and four stepchildren, Steven Jackson, Kevin Jackson, Brandon Jackson and Kristen Jackson.
