Mr. Pernell Best, "The Watermelon Man," 55, of 303 Banks Ave., passed on Sunday, June 30, 2013, at Vidant Medical Center, Greenville, N.C.
The homegoing service will be held on Friday, July 5, 2013, at 11 a.m. at St. Mark Church of Christ DOC, 700 W. Ash St., Goldsboro, N.C., with Bishop Alton A. Smith officiating. There will be a wake and visitation held on Thursday, July 4, 2013, from 1 to 4 p.m. at J.B. Rhodes Funeral Home and Cremations.
He was born on June 7, 1958, in Wayne County to James and Helen Pearsall Best.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Wooten Best of the home; children, Jasmine Wooten of Goldsboro, Kameishia Wooten of Los Angeles, Pernell Davis of Raleigh and Chauncey Wooten of Goldsboro; sister, Suzette Best; godson, James Parks; and three grandchildren.
The family is receiving visitors at 1304 Franklin Court, Goldsboro, N.C., where they will also assemble for the funeral procession.
