KENANSVILLE -- Hattie Evelyn Benson, 94, Kenansville, passed away Thursday, June 27, 2013, at Parrish Family Care Home.

Mrs. Benson was born in Duplin County April 6, 1919, to the late Clement and Clarissa Jane Wiggins Sullivan.

Mrs. Benson was married to the late Archie D. Benson Sr., and worked many years as bookkeeper for their logging company.

She was a member of Sarecta Free Will Baptist Church, Sarecta Free Will Baptist Church Auxiliary and Home and Garden Club.

Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Saturday, June 29, 2013, at Community Funeral Home of Warsaw. Burial will follow in Devotional Gardens.

A visitation will be held an hour prior to the service at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 29, 2013, at Community Funeral Home.

Mrs. Benson is survived by daughter, Kempie B. Riley and husband, Dennis, of Warsaw; son, Archie D. Benson II of Dunn; daughter-in law, Jorecka Allen Benson; granddaughters, Reccia S. Phillips and husband, Alan, of Warsaw and Tiffany B. Taylor and husband, Billy, of Bowden; grandchildren, Chad Phillips, Lakeanne Taylor, Madison Phillips, Zach Taylor and McKenzie Taylor; sister, Ruby Rutledge of Raleigh; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Benson was preceded in death by son, Denny M. Benson; brothers, Leslie Sullivan, Swindell Sullivan, Wesley Sullivan and David Sullivan; and sisters, Adelena S. Proctor and Ina M. Swinson,

In lieu of flowers, memorials maybe made to Free Will Baptist Oxford Children's Home.
