MOUNT OLIVE -- Funeral services for Larry and Betty Bishop will be held Friday, June 21, at 2 p.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home Mount Olive, with the Rev. Paul Rose officiating. Entombment will follow at Wayne Memorial Park Mausoleum.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday, June 20, from 6 to 8 p.m.
Mr. and Mrs. Bishop, residents near North Duplin High School, were involved in a motor vehicle collision Monday, June 17.
Mrs. Bishop passed away at Wayne Hospital shortly after the accident, and Mr. Bishop passed away Tuesday night, June 18, at Vidant Pitt Hospital.
Both were members of Faison Baptist Church.
Mr. Bishop was retired from BellSouth Telephone Co. as an installer and service technician.
He was a native of Petersburg, Va., son of the late Graham A. and Dorothy Virginia Storch Bishop, and he was their only child.
He was a United States Navy veteran.
Mrs. Bishop, a Pitt County native, was the daughter of the late Alfred and Pearl Paramore Ross.
She was known for her cooking abilities.
A former Eastern Star member, she was a life member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and was past president.
She also was a member of Mount Olive Home Demonstration Club, and was a past president of that organization as well.
The couple, who had celebrated 39 years of marriage June 15, are survived by their children, Mark Bishop of Clinton, Vivian B. Lowman and husband, Curtis, and Patricia B. Dietrich all of Clinton; six grandchildren, Davis Jordan, Ashley Dietrich, Joseph Dietrich, Amber Lowman, Michaela Bishop and Lauren Bishop, and two great-grandchildren, Micah Tyndall and Joshua Swift Jordan.
Mrs. Bishop is also survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth R. and Phyllis Ross of Greenville; a sister and brother-in-law, Kay and Jourgen Eartel of Winterville; a sister-in-law, Marge Ross of Greenville; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Douglas H. Ross, and a sister and brother-in-law, Shirlyn R. and A.C. Evans.
