MOUNT OLIVE -- Nathaniel Franklin Barwick Sr., 76, Mount Olive, died Wednesday, May 15, 2013, at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Goldsboro.
He is survived by his wife, Marian Shivar Barwick; two daughters, Kristy Barwick Albert, and her husband, Scott, of Rosewood, and Leslie Barwick and her fiance', A.C. Ashworth, of New Bern; a son, Nathaniel Franklin Barwick Jr., of Mount Olive; a brother, Harold Barwick and his wife, Faye, of Mount Olive; a sister, Mary Dell Lewis, and her husband, Butch, of Mount Olive; and five grandchildren, Nathan, Hunter and Cole Barwick of Mount Olive and Will and Davis Albert of Rosewood.
Franklin is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Marie Barwick, Joyce Barwick and Glenda Barwick; special family friends, Bennie and Valerie Barwick; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; John Harvey and Hattie Inez Holloman Barwick; his three brothers, Leonard, Harvey Jay and Kenneth Ray "Pep" Barwick; and a special niece, Jill Barwick Parks.
Franklin was a lifelong farmer in the Mount Olive area.
He had also attended Northeast Original Free Will Baptist Church, and more recently, enjoyed visiting at Unity Baptist Church across the road from his home.
Funeral services will be held Friday evening, May 17, at 7 p.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home in Mount Olive, with the Rev. Richard Cuddington officiating.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service, and at other times at the Barwick residence on N.C. 55 East in Mount Olive.
Burial will take place Saturday morning at 10 a.m. at Wayne Memorial Park in Dudley.
