DURHAM -- Maj. Jeanie M. Forte, 64, departed this life Monday, April 1, 2013, at Durham VA Community Life Center in Durham, N.C.
She was born May 21, 1948 in Brownsville, Pa. She was predeceased in death by parent, the Rev. Benjamin Forte Sr.
She retired from the Air Force in Goldsboro, N.C., where she served 18 years in nurse service management.
She obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing degree from Ohio State University.
She was a member of Mount Olivet Baptist Church in Columbus, Ohio.
She leaves to cherish in her memory her loving mother, Mildred Forte; sisters, Beatrice (Sylvester) Edwards of Thomaston, Ala., Mildred (David) Thomas of Columbus, Ohio, and evangelist Benzetta Forte of Columbus, Ohio; brothers, Dytanion (Marcelyn) Forte of Columbus, Ohio, and Benjamin (Joyce) Forte Jr. of Durham, N.C.; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral service noon Saturday, April 6, 2013, in the chapel of Diehl-Whittaker Funeral Service, 720 E. Long St., where the family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until start of service. Interment Northlawn Memory Gardens.
