WILSON -- James Alvin Scott, 69, died Wednesday. A private service will be held at a later date. The family will receive friends Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Joyner's Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway.
He is survived by his wife, Deanna Creech Scott; two daughters, Kimberley Scott and Shana Scott, both of Apex; a son, Gregory Scott and wife, Lauren of Clayton; three granddaughters, Logan Scott of Apex, and Hannah Scott and Rachel Scott, both of Clayton; a grandson, Caleb Scott of Apex; a sister, Minnie Faye Pittman and husband, Wayne of Pikeville; and two brothers, David Scott and wife, Pam of Fremont and Johnny Lucas and wife, Marie of Wilson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Minnie Mae Howell Scott, and a sister, Carlene Scott.
In lieu of flowers, the Scott family requests memorials be directed to the Arthritis National Research Foundation, Benefit: Juvenile Arthritis, 200 Oceangate, Suite 830, Long Beach, Calif. 90802.
