RUTH EDGERTON BOYER

Ruth Boyer passed away Christmas evening at the age of 81.
A memorial service will be held in the columbarium at St. Paul United Methodist Church on Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, at 11 a.m.
Ruth was born in Goldsboro on Feb. 10, 1931, to Lamont Leggett and Ruth Boyce Edgerton. She attended Sweet Briar College and graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and was a member of Chi Omega Sorority.
Ruth married William Harold Boyer on March 22, 1952, and preceded her in death on Dec. 20, 2012.
Ruth is survived by three daughters, Ruth Boyer Whitlock and husband, Frederick, of Sugar Land, Texas, Beth Boyer of Raleigh and Lamont Boyer Farmer of Raleigh; grandchildren, Amelia Vick, Gavin Whitlock, Grace Farmer and Emily Whitlock; great-grandson, Blake Vick-Sandoval; and sisters, Sarah Edgerton Holt of Wilmington and Sandra Edgerton Kerr of Goldsboro.
