Deacon Leonard Shadding departed this earthly life on December 12, 2012.
Funeral services for Deacon Shadding will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, 601 West Elm St., with Dr. Kenneth Tate officiating. Deacon Shadding will lie in state one hour prior to the funeral service. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, 3888 Hwy. 70 W., Princeton. A public viewing will be held from 3 until 6 p.m. at the funeral home on Monday.
He was born July 17, 1927 to the late Patrick Shadding and Cherrie Bryant Shadding. His wife, Phyllis Blanche Long, preceded him in death on Jan. 28, 2012.
Deacon Shadding leaves to mourn his passing one daughter, Alice Laverne S. Houston of Philadelphia, Pa., one son, Leonard Ralph Shadding (Helen) of Clarksville, Tenn.; three granddaughters, Dr. Alana Lynette McGill (Adrian) and Amber Lea Houston, both of Philadelphia, Pa., and Jasmine Florence Shadding of Clarksville, Tenn.; two grandsons, Amaris Mose Shadding of Clarksville, Tenn., and Aaron Lawrence Houston of Philadelphia, Pa.; one great-grandson, Adrian Marcel McGill Jr. of Philadelphia, Pa.; two sisters, Emma S. Fennell (Walter) of Goldsboro, and Annie S. Bryant of Philadelphia, Pa.; two brothers, Franklin Shadding of Philadelphia, Pa., and Frederick Shadding Sr. (Katherine) of Goldsboro; a brother-in-law, Leroy Cook; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and a very special nephew, Ralph Fennell.
