ELDER ERMA WILDER DIGGS

Elder Erma Wilder Diggs, 71, lovingly known by her family and friends as "Diggs" of 607 S. Claiborne St., departed her earthly life peacefully on Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2012, at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

Services will be conducted on Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012, at 11 a.m. at McIntyre Funeral Home Chapel, 900 S. George St. Pastor Shanita Mervin will officiate. Also, a public viewing will be held Friday, Nov. 23, 2012, at McIntyre Funeral Home, 900 S. George St. from 2 until 6 p.m. The family will be present from 5 until 6 p.m. to receive friends and other family members.

Erma was born in Greene County on Dec. 7, 1940, to the late Alberta Strickland Wilder and Needham Wilder.

She was educated in the public schools of Greene County.

Elder Diggs was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Diggs; her father, Needham Wilder; her mother, Alberta Strickland Wilder; and a brother, Needham Wilder Jr.

Elder Diggs leaves to cherish her loving and precious memories her daughter, Shemekia Diggs; her sisters, Carolyn Barnes and husband, Elder James Barnes, and Linda Williams, all of Goldsboro; her brother, Carnell Wilder of Goldsboro; two uncles, Robert Herring and Onnie Strickland of Goldsboro; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends.

At other times, the family will receive friends at the residence of Elder James and Carolyn Barnes, 607 S. Claiborne St., where the family and friends will assemble one hour prior at 9:50 a.m. in preparation for the funeral procession.
