Boneta Enloe Stockton, 88, 2300 Wayne Memorial Drive, passed away peacefully early Monday morning, Nov. 12, 2012, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center, following a courageous battle with cancer.

A native of Pensacola, N.C., she had resided in Buncombe County most of her life prior to moving to Goldsboro in November of 2006.

She retired in 1973 as a registered nurse, formerly with Mission and St. Joseph hospitals, and served for 21 years with the Buncombe County Health Department.

She was a member of West Asheville Baptist Church, and a lifetime member of The Order of the Eastern Star -- Biltmore Chapter No. 38, where she had served as past worthy matron, and was just honored in receiving the 60-Year Service Award.

Mrs. Stockton was the daughter of the late Luna Leon Enloe and Elsie Ogle Enloe. She was the wife of 55 years of the late Eugene "Gene" Debbs Stockton, who died March 28, 2004.

She was also preceded in death by her brothers, George Olen Enloe and Jesse Quentin Enloe.

Surviving are her son, Dr. Leon Eugene Stockton and wife, Angela, and granddaughter, Sarah Elizabeth Stockton, all of Goldsboro.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, 2012, in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, 1428 Patton Ave., Asheville, N.C., 28806, with the Rev. Dr. John T. Tiller officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

The family wishes to express its heartfelt appreciation to the staff of the Brian Center Nursing Home of Goldsboro and Kitty Askins Hospice Center for their kindness and compassionate care given to its loved one and its family.
