Mary Wood Scott, 87, died Friday, Oct. 26, 2012, at Dunn Health and Rehab.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 29, 2012, at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, with the Rev. Bob Fulkerson officiating. The family will greet friends immediately following the service.
Mary was born in Cooleemee on April 24, 1925, to the late D.D. and Bertie Ijams Wood. She was married to the late William "Fred" Scott, a management employee of Borden Manufacturing for more than 30 years. Mary was a long-time resident of the Jefferson Park and Westwood communities and was a member of Madison Avenue Baptist Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary Ellen Wertheim and husband, Ron, of Leland; grandchildren, Jonathan S. Wertheim of Sylva and Seth D. Wertheim of Clemmons; great-granddaughter, Trinity Wertheim of Clemmons; and sisters, Peggy W. Swaim of Williamsburg, Va. and Ruth W. Carter of Asheboro.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Larry D. Scott.
