DUDLEY -- Charles Edward Garten, 63, Dudley passed away at his residence Monday morning surrounded by his family.
He was the son of the late Herman and Edith Arthur Garten, and was the husband of Roy Ann Garten.
Mr. Garten was a member of First Pentecostal Holiness Church of Mount Olive, and a member of The Riders of The Cross motorcycle club.
A memorial service will be held Saturday at First Pentecostal Holiness Church in Mount Olive at 11 a.m., with pastor Doug Bartlett and pastor Glenn Mills officiating.
The family will receive friends following the service.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Garten is survived by two sons, David Garten and wife, Melissa, of Surf City and Chris Clark and wife, Stephanie, of Mullens, W.Va.; a daughter, Lori Suzanne Panos and husband, Brett, of Monks Corner, S.C.; a brother, Kenneth Garten of East Orange, N.J.; three sisters, Patty Garten of Beckley, W.Va., Gloria Hager of Oak Hill, W.Va., and Clara Ayers and husband, Bill of Indiana; a special niece, Pamela Lilly of Oak Hill, W.Va.; 15 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
