JERRY DAN PIPKIN

Jerry Dan "Red" Pipkin passed away peacefully in the care of his family at Kitty Askins Hospice Care, Goldsboro, N.C., on Wednesday, Sept. 26.
He was born on Oct. 3, 1942, in Johnston County. He was the son of the late Edgar Allen and Vera Estelle Beasley "Bay" Pipkin. He was also preceded in death by his brothers: Robert Earl Pipkin, Edgar Allen "Junebug" Pipkin Jr. and Eugene Douglas "Droopy" Pipkin.
He retired from the state of North Carolina at Cherry Hospital. He was also a farmer on his family farm. His wife, children and grandchildren were his pride and joy. He enjoyed watching and coaching his children and grandchildren in sports.
Funeral services will be conducted at 7 p.m. today at Casey Funeral Home in Princeton, with the Rev. Dennis Pollock officiating. The committal service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, at Evergreen Memorial Services Cemetery.
He was a devoted husband to Marjorie Lassiter Pipkin. A loving father to his sons, Dan and daughter-in-law Lulane and Cecil and daughter-in-law Cindy. He had four grandchildren, Ashley, Josh, Kaitlyn and Alana, and two great-grandchildren, Bentley and Noah. He is also survived by sisters Cora Ann Pipkin of Kenly and Mary Alice Freeman of Selma and brothers J.D. Pipkin of Kenly, Chester Pipkin of Willow Springs and Tommy Pipkin of Micro.
Jerry was not only a husband, father, and grandfather, but also a loving brother, brother-in-law, uncle and a true friend to many.
The family will receive friends beginning at 5:30 p.m. and immediately following the funeral service.
