WILMA L. THOMPSON

PIKEVILLE -- Wilma Lewis Thompson, 83, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2012, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by her family.
Wilma was born in Duplin County Sept. 1, 1928, to the late Jesse and Estelle Sloan Lewis. She was married for 57 years to G.C. Thompson, who preceded her in death Aug. 8, 2003.
For many years, Wilma owned and operated a beauty shop in her home, and she always enjoyed playing bridge.
Wilma was a longtime member of St. Joseph United Methodist Church.
The family will receive friends Thursday, Aug. 30, 2012, from 1 to 2 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, followed by a service at 2 p.m. in the chapel, with the Rev. Tommy Haynes officiating. Burial will follow in Pikeville Cemetery.
Wilma is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Cannon and husband, Gerald, of Pikeville; her son, Cleve Thompson and wife, Sharon, of Fremont; her granddaughters, Michelle Herring and Stephanie Cannon both of Goldsboro; her grandson, Scott Thompson and wife, Kristen, of Raleigh; and a great-granddaughter, Tori Herring.
She is also survived by her sisters, Drue Smith of Sumter, S.C., and Irene Rumfelt of Clewiston, Fla.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Jason Thompson.
