PIKEVILLE -- Minister Harry James Battle, 58, lovingly known by his family and friends as "Harry," 142 Booker St., Pikeville, departed his earthly life to be with the Lord Sunday, July 29, 2012, at his residence.
Harry was born in Wayne County Nov. 7, 1953, to Mrs. Mildred Battle and the late Mr. Charles Hamilton.
He received his early education in the public schools in Wayne County, and Harry was a graduate of Charles B. Aycock High School in the class of 1972.
Harry was employed as a supervisor with Franklin Baking Co. in Goldsboro.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, his twin, Larry Jimmy Battle and Kenneth "Skip" Battle.
Funeral service will be conducted Saturday, Aug. 4, 2012, at 1 p.m. at Goldsboro-Raleigh Assembly Church, 214 W. Hooks River Road, Goldsboro. Evanglist Eva M. Middleton will officiate. Interment will follow in Hooks Grove Church Cemetery, 290 Hooks Grove Church Road, Pikeville.
A public viewing will be held Friday, Aug. 3, 2012, at McIntyre Funeral Home, 900 S. George St., Goldsboro, from 2 to 7 p.m.
Also, a wake will be conducted from 6 to 7 p.m., with the family present to receive other family members and friends.
Minister Battle leaves to cherish his loving and precious memories his mother, Mrs. Mildred Battle; a brother, Shelton Hamilton of New York; five sisters, Devita and Patricia Hamilton of New York and Diane "Peggy" Gervin, Shirlee Gervin and Wilma Moore all of Goldsboro; a special aunt, Ms. Mary Elizabeth Joyner of Pikeville; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
The family will assemble at the residence of Mrs. Mildred Battle, 108 Harvey St., Pikeville, one hour prior to the funeral at noon in preparation for the funeral procession.
