WILLIAM BRYANT MILLER

WARSAW -- William Bryant Miller, 405 S. Gum St., went from labor to reward Monday at Genesis Health Care in Waldorf, Md.

He was born in Pink Hill Oct. 19, 1933, to his proud parents, the late Bryant and Minnie M. Miller.

William was a true servant, and served his country in the United States Army for three years.

He was a member of numerous organizations, Zeal, Ambition, the Duplin County Progressive Leadership and American Legion Post 329, to name a few.

He served as a funeral attendant and insurance agent with Garris Funeral Home, and showered each family with compassion, humor and respect.

Many people came in contact with William because of his employment with North Carolina Mutual Insurance Co. He worked as an agent for more than 35 years and received numerous awards.

Life celebration service will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at KEMBA Headquarters, 860 N. Pine St., Warsaw, with elder McArthur Farrow officiating. Burial will follow in Oakridge Memorial Park in Pink Hill.

He is survived by his wife, Arlena M. Miller of the home; three stepdaughters, Thomasine (Darnell) Hazel and Lola (Ronald) Scott of Waldorf, Md., and Alicia (James) Pierce of White Plains, Md.; a sister, Irene (Otis) Dees of Campbell Hall, N.Y.; and five grandchildren.

Viewing will be held today from 5 to 7 p.m. at Salem Chapel Free Will Baptist Church in Pink Hill.

Garris Funeral Home is serving the family.
