MARY S. THOMPSON
July 3, 1924-July 15, 2012
Mary Strickland Thompson, 88, died Sunday morning at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
Born in Wayne County, she was the daughter of the late Claude S. and Allie Chestnutt Strickland, wife of the late Blaney Thompson and mother of the late Dennis Earl Thompson.
She was a member of Manley Grove Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday evening at 6 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Edsel Hooks and the Rev. Chris Watkins officiating. A graveside service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Wayne Memorial Park.
Family members will greet friends Tuesday evening at the funeral home following the funeral service.
Mrs. Thompson is survived by her children, Douglas J. (Alice) Thompson of Morehead City and Alice T. (Ed) Medford and Frances T. (James) Millard all of Grantham and Jean T. (David) Eichacker of Zebulon; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren; 14 stepgreat-grandchildren; and a close family friend, Shelby Blankenship.
In addition to flowers, memorial gifts may be directed to Manley Grove Pentecostal Holiness Church.
