MOUNT OLIVE -- William Albert "Bill" Powers, 64, Dill Street, passed away Saturday morning at the University of North Carolina Hospital in Chapel Hill.
A native of Latta, S.C., and the son of the late William Melvin and Naomi Bass Powers, Bill had been employed with Georgia-Pacific as a production supervisor.
He was a member of the Mount Olive ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 7 p.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home, with bishop Richard Brown and elder Joseph Scott officiating.
Visitation will be immediately after the service, and burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Wayne Memorial Park.
Bill is survived by his wife, Brenda, of the home; a son, Chris Powers and wife, Amanda, of Mount Olive; a daughter, Heather Powers and her fiance, Josh Jarman, of New Bern; four grandchildren, James Powers, Adrian Powers, Jayden Jarman and Kinley Jarman; a sister, Joyce Hamilton and husband, Guy, of Nichols, S.C.; two brothers, Gerald Powers and wife, Sandy, of Hamer, S.C., and James Powers and wife, Tammy, of Lumberton; several nieces and nephews; and his canine friends, Ginger and Lily.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Randy Powers and Melvin Powers.
