FAISON -- Gene Austin Bradshaw, 82, of 299 Bradshaw-Crow Road, Faison, died Friday afternoon, April 20, 2012, at his home with his family gathered 'round.
The family will receive friends at Tyndall Funeral Home in Mount Olive on Sunday, April 22, from 6 until 8 p.m., and at the home at other times. Funeral services will be held Monday, April 23, at 11 a.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home with the Rev. Jabe Largen and the Rev. Henry Swanzey officiating. Interment will be in Wayne Memorial Park with military honors.
Mr. Bradshaw, born in the Sampson County community of Delway and raised in Duplin, was a 1949 graduate of Faison High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in the Korean War, was recipient of the Bronze Star, the Korean Service Medal, and the United Nations Service Medal. He was a retired farmer and carpenter, and was an avid collector of antiques and relics of the past. He was a member of Faison United Methodist Church and had been a member of the American Legion.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kara Goodman; his parents, Dallas Holt Bradshaw and Pearl Worrell Bradshaw; a brother, Delmon Bradshaw; and a brother-in-law, Robert Flowers, he is survived by his wife of over 55 years, Brunetta Flowers Bradshaw of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Genetta B. and Jerry Goodman of Faison; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Gary and Ronda Bradhsaw of Faison, and Greg Bradshaw of Faison; six grandchildren, Kylie Kornegay and husband, Terry Kornegay, Bridgette Smith and husband, Anthony Smith, Brent Bradshaw, Natalie Goodman, Dallas Bradshaw, and Colden Bradshaw, all of Faison; three great-grandchildren, Evan Kornegay, Tanner Kornegay, and Alexa Smith; a brother, Ed Bradshaw of Goldsboro; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Alice B. and Ted Tillman, and Kathryn B. Forehand, all of Goldsboro; sisters-in-law, Jane Bradshaw of Faison, Verna Flowers of Mebane, and Patty Davis and husband, William E. Davis, of Goldsboro; and brother-in-law, Jimmy Flowers and wife, Tammy Flowers of Faison.
