Rena Hicks Sanford, 89, passed away Monday, March 5, 2012, at the Brian Center.
Rena was born in Granville County July 6, 1922, to the late Ollie Hicks and Annie Arrington Hicks.
Memorial services will be held Thursday, March 8, 2012, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with the Rev. Drew Clark officiating.
The family will receive friends following the service.
Rena is survived by her daughter, Virginia Farmer and husband, Linwood, of Goldsboro; her son, Bernard E. Sanford Jr. of Raleigh; her five grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by her sister, Margaret LaRosa of Raleigh; her sister-in-law, Idalia Hicks of Raleigh; nephews, Robin Carter and Johnny Hicks and wife, Linda; and a host of other dear loved ones.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard E. Sanford Sr., and her daughter, Gloria Jean Schellhas.
