CHARLES D. MITCHELL

Charles Daniel Mitchell, 80, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2012, at Pitt County Memorial Hospital.
Charles was born in Johnston County May 3, 1931, to the late Leonard Mitchell and Alma Starling Mitchell.
He was a retired master sergeant from the United States Air Force, and was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and The Retired Enlisted Association.
Charles was also a member of New Hope Church of God.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Feb. 17, 2012, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with the Rev. Joseph Leonard and the Rev. Harold T. Anderson officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, with the Rev. David Brooks officiating.
Charles is survived by his wife, Katie Massengill Mitchell; his children, Sherri Martin and husband, Ricky, of Howardsville, Va.; Gary Capps and wife, Lydia, of Goldsboro, Betty Jean Capps of Goldsboro, Larry Dean Capps of Fuquay-Varina and Robin Capps and wife, Renee, of Goldsboro; his grandchildren, Jamie Capps and wife, Trish, Jay Brantley Capps, Olivia Thompson and husband, John, Leslie Barbee and husband, Brian, Matthew Graham and wife, Desiree, Lauren Mitchell, Brittney Mitchell, Jacob Mitchell and Heather Mitchell; and seven great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by his daughter-in-law, Teresa Mitchell.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Charles Leonard Mitchell, and brother, Earsell Mitchell.
The family will receive friends Thursday, Feb. 16, 2012, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home.
