On Feb. 1, 2012, retired Goldsboro Police Captain Woodrow Bell, 81, passed away.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at St. Mark Church of Christ, 700 W. Ash St. Burial with military and Masonic honors will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.
He was the son of the late Alonza Bennett, the late Mary Lewis Braswell Bell and the late Gilbert Bell Sr. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather and was married to Helena Davis Bell for 60 years. This union was blessed with four daughters, Jacqueline Bell of Cairo, Egypt, Shelley Bell Etheridge of Columbia, Md., Sandra Bell Burrell (Norman) of Alexandria, Va., and Willette Bell Dorman (Robert) of Columbia, Md. He had one beloved grandson, Brandon Michael Etheridge, Esquire of Washington, D.C.
He was preceded in death by three sisters and a brother, Catherine Bell, Ethelene Bell Stallings, Patricia Bell Brewington, and Matthew Bell Sr. In addition to his wife, daughters, and grandson, he leaves to cherish his memory four brothers, Eddie Bell and Albert Bell of Goldsboro, Robert Bell (Shirley) of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and Gilbert Bell (Barbara) of Seattle, Wash.; three sisters, Mary Ann Bell Hall and Blanche Bell Cain (James) of Goldsboro, and Darlene Bennett Arthur of Washington, D.C.; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Viewing will be held Monday from 4 until 7 p.m. at Howell Funeral Home in Goldsboro with the family present from 6 until 7 p.m.
