David Francis Chapin, 82, passed away Saturday, Feb. 4, 2012, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

David was born in Boston, Mass., April 2, 1929, to the late Francis Baldwin Chapin and Helen Virginia Horsman. David was married to the late Judith Chambers Chapin, who passed away in October 2011.

David enjoyed attending ball games to watch his grandchildren. David will be remembered to many as the "Lollipop Man," who enjoyed making the day of many by giving them a lollipop at the ball games.

David is survived by his children, Jeff Chapin and wife, Dorothy, of Rosewood, Michael Chapin and wife, Bethany, of Clayton, Ronnie Chapin and wife, Robin, of New Hampshire and David Chapin of New Hampshire; his daughter, Melissa Chapin of Clayton; his grandchildren, Ernie Chapin, Christina Chapin, Brian Chapin, Ethan Chapin, Tucker Chapin, Becca Chapin, Jarod Chapin, Kari Chapin, Euretta Chapin, Fran Chapin and Michael Chapin; and his special companion, Snickers.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Ralph Chapin.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 107 Handley Park Court, Goldsboro, N.C., 27534.

The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the home of Jeff and Dorothy Chapin, 203 Friendswood Drive, Goldsboro, N.C., 27530.
