RUBEN S. HAM

Ruben Spencil Ham, 77, passed away Sunday, Jan. 29, 2012, at Wayne Memorial Hospital surrounded by his family. The Lord chose to take Ruben to his heavenly home as he and his wife celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
Ruben was born in Greene County March 14, 1934, to the late Leon and Amie Anderson Ham.
Ruben lived a life of dedication to his family and friends and to his community.
He owned and operated Ruben S. Ham's Enterprises in Goldsboro.
Ruben was a man of incredible faith, and was a loyal member of Faith Free Will Baptist Church, where he served as chairman of the ushers for many years.
For those who know him, Ruben will be remembered for his charm and his smile.
The greatest joys in Reuben's life were God, family and friends. Even during his illness, he never gave up or let go of his firm belief in the power of prayer. Ruben's determination to let it be God's will was an inspiration to all who knew him.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2012, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the fellowship hall at Faith Free Will Baptist Church, followed by a service celebrating Ruben's life in the sanctuary at 7:30 p.m., with the Rev. Dann Patrick and the Rev. Christian Powell officiating. Interment will be Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2012, at 11 a.m. in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.
Ruben is survived by his wife of 50 years, Patricia Barnes Ham; his daughters, Debbie Ham of Raleigh and Teresa Womble of Selma; his son, Spencil Ham and wife, Melisa, of Clayton; his grandchildren, Rush Ham, Lydia Ham, Lunden Ham, Elizabeth Womble and Morgan Womble.
He is also survived by his brother, Linwood Earl Ham and wife, Louise, of Goldsboro.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Faith Free Will Baptist Church at 1200 W. Grantham St., Goldsboro, N.C., 27530.
