DUDLEY -- Samuel Miller, 66, lovingly known by his family and friends as "Sam," 104 Southern Plaza Drive, Dudley, departed his earthly life peacefully Saturday, Jan. 21, 2012, surrounded by his family at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Goldsboro.

Sam was born in Saint Francis County, Ark., July 4, 1945, to his living father, Noah Miller, and the late Eula Doolittle Miller.

Samuel attended Arkansas Public Schools and Arkansas State University.

Upon receiving his education, he joined the United States Air Force, where he served for 16 years. Following an honorary discharge from the Air Force, he served in the National Guard and the Air Force Reserve.

Samuel was employed by O'Berry Center.

He was the owner of Carolina Fashion, a local business in Wayne County.

Also, Samuel met, dated and married the love of his life, Gloria Ford Miller. To this beautiful union, two children were born. Gloria and Samuel were married more than 43 loving years.

Funeral service will be conducted Friday, Jan. 27, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Barnes Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 1108 Rosewood Road, Goldsboro, with the Rev. George T. Cromwell officiating. Interment will follow in Wayne Memorial Park Cemetery South, 2925 U.S. 117 South, Dudley.

Also, a public viewing will be held Friday, Jan. 27, 2012, at Barnes Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 1108 Rosewood Road, Goldsboro, from 10 to 10:50 a.m.

He leaves to celebrate and cherish his memories his loving wife, Gloria Ford Miller of the home; a son, Samuel Dewayne Miller, also of the home; a daughter, Monica Miller Farrer and husband, Larry, of High Point; a grandson, Samuel Myles Alexandar of High Point; his father, Noah Miller of Arkansas; a brother, Larry Miller of Arkansas; three sisters, Ann Miller of Mississippi, Dr. Marilyn Johnson and husband, Clarence, of Arkansas and Margaret Miller of Arkansas; an uncle, Willie Webster of California; a mother-in-law, Elizabeth Ford of Goldsboro; two brothers-in-law, Jimmie E. Ford and wife, Priscilla, of Goldsboro and Charlie E. Ford and wife, Althea, of Alabama; a sister-in-law, Bernadette F. Reese of Goldsboro; two aunts, Rogerlene Bryant and Evelyn Croom both of Goldsboro; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

At other times, the family will receive friends at 104 Southern Plaza Drive in Dudley, where family and friends will assemble one hour prior to the funeral in preparation for the funeral procession.
