SENIOR ELDER CARLYLE BREWINGTON

Senior Elder Carlyle Brewington boarded the 8:21 a.m. heavenly express from his home on Dec. 6 in the year of our Lord, 2011.
His commemorative celebration will be at the Goldsboro Raleigh District Assembly, 211 Hooks River Road, at noon Monday, Dec. 11. Committal will be at Spells Family Memorial Gardens in Clayton.
A strong advocate for education and self-improvement, he worked tirelessly to reach his life goals and objectives whiles successfully educating all of his own and community children. He leaves a treasured legacy of work, loved ones and memories.
Born the sixteenth day off February in the year of our Lord, 1928, to Arnold and Lizzie Brewington, the fourth of their nine children. He grew and thrived in Princeton (Johnston County). He accepted Jesus Christ at an early age while at the St. Stephen's Church of Christ, Princeton.
Elder Brewington accepted the call to Ministerial Service while attending the St. Luke Church of Christ in Goldsboro, under the pastoral guidance of Elder C.H. Boykin, who was instrumental in his early ministry. Elder Brewington pastured 23 years at two churches with various interim charges in N.C. Rose Chapel of Saratoga and China Grove of Stedman were where he pastured he longest. His contributions and services made a lasting impact on all members and people he touched.
Elder Brewington retired as supervisor after 30 years of Dietary Service for the O'Berry Center, where he made so many lifetime friends and relations from his years of service.
Elder Brewington leaves to cherish his memory a loving and devoted wife of 60 years, Lossie Brewington; four children, Carlton (Sonja) of Lurel, Md., Elder Elton R. (Elizabeth Clare) of Jersey City, N.J., Clothilda Renita of Greensboro, Carlyle Andretti of Laurel, Md.; two granddaughters, Chanlar and Channing; two sisters, Irene Pierce of Kenly and Earlene Bunn of Goldsboro/Monroe; and one brother, Eugene Brewington of Princeton; and one aunt, Pauline Spells of Smithfield. He will also fondly be remembered by his Dudley-Spells family on his wife's side and many cousins, relatives and friends.
Visitation and viewing will be at Goldsboro Raleigh District Assembly from 5 until 7 p.m. today.
