IDA T. HINSON

Ida Turner Byrd Hinson, 87, died Tuesday morning at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
She was born in Wayne County to the late Claude L. and Mattie Lamb Turner, and was married to the late William E. Byrd Sr. and the late David S. Hinson.
Mrs. Hinson was a member of First Baptist Church, the Women's Missionary Union and the Fidelis Dorcas Sunday School Class.
After 25 years, she retired from First Citizens Bank in Goldsboro.
She had resided at Kirkwood Retirement Village, and enjoyed working in her flower gardens.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dr. Glenn Phillips Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Wayne Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home.
Mrs. Hinson is survived by two sons, William E. Byrd Jr. and wife, Annette, of Woodbridge, Va., and Gene T. Byrd and wife, Cathy, of Goldsboro; two stepchildren, Laura Hinson Casey of Dudley and Mike Hinson of Goldsboro; five grandchildren, Elizabeth Byrd, Emily Byrd, Johnathan Byrd, Thomas Byrd and Catey Byrd Tewes; two great-grandchildren, Hanna Tewes and Lila Byrd; seven step-grandchildren; a brother, Leslie Turner of Mount Olive; six sisters, Maggie Martin, Shirley Barnes and Fonnie Copple, all of Goldsboro, Dean Strickland of Dudley and Sallie Arnold of Fairborn, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Annie Reverts, and brother, Earl L. Turner.
