BERTHA HUTCHENS WALLACE
Died Sept. 21, 2011
Bertha Hutchens Wallace, 83, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2011, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center of Goldsboro.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, 2011, at Shady Grove Baptist Church, with the Rev. Terry Larson officiating. The burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Wallace was born in Guilford County, and was the daughter of the late Roy Benton and Sudie Mae Bradshaw Hutchens.
She was of the Baptist faith, and a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church.
Bertha loved to play bingo, and was an avid gardener, fisher, Atlanta Braves and NASCAR fan.
She was a loving momma and grandmother, who loved her family deeply.
Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Kenneth Eugene Wallace Sr.; baby boy Wallace; sister, Margaret Griffin; brother, Robert Hutchens; and brother-in-law, Leonard Griffin.
Mrs. Wallace is survived by her children, Sandy Ashby of Knoxville, Tenn., Genie Dombroski and husband, Ski, of Clovis, N.M., Debby Whitley of Alburtis, Pa., and Kenneth Wallace Jr. of Goldsboro,; grandchildren, Brian Matoy, Jessica Dombroski and Kenneth Roy Wallace; great-grandchildren, Skylee, Chase and Logan Matoy; brothers, Donald Hutchens and wife, Iva Lee, and William Hutchens and wife, Nancy; sister-in-law, Helen Hutchens; special friends, Cheryl, Becky, ChariLee and Rachel; and beloved nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service at Shady Grove Baptist Church.
